On William Shatner’s Big Win
William Shatner received an Emmy Award tonight, his second in the past two years for his role as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. Shatner’s co-star, James Spader, also received an Emmy for his work on the series.
Shatner’s Emmy is well-deserved. He’s done superlative work as Denny Crane, keeping the audience guessing as to whether his antics are calculated or spontaneous. In many ways I feel that Crane, not James T. Kirk, is the role Shatner would want to be remembered for. Denny Crane really is the role of a lifetime.
Naturally, I’m a fan of Boston Legal, and after ABC’s shabby treatment of the show last spring I cannot wait for the series to start its second season next week.
Denny Crane!
